INSPIRATION
Read these scriptures together. Idea: use one as a memory verse!
"Love is the motive for your birth. You were born by the motive of love as a resultant being of love. Is that right? Thus, man is to be born and to be loved by his mother and father. Then, why do your mother and father love you? Why do even birds or animals love their young? It is because they all were born as testifiers to love."
- Rev. Sun Myung Moon
"Children are the fruit of the love of the mother and father. We need to understand that children embody their parents' love, life, and lineage....We are the sons and daughters of God, the parent who is the origin of true love. Parents are the highest masters of love for children."
- Rev. Sun Myung Moon
“But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’So they are no longer two, but one flesh.”
-Mark 10:6-9
SENSORY ACTIVITY
Choose 1
Puzzle Pieces: Put one puzzle piece down and hand your child the other. Help him as needed to fit it into the first one. Talk about how these pieces are shaped so that they can fit together perfectly. They complete each other!
Generational Photos: Show your child a photo of their Grandpa and add a photo of Grandma. Then say Grandpa + Grandma = Mama. Show them a photo of Mama as a child. Do the same for Dad’s side of the family. You can also show: Mommy + Daddy = You.
Sonogram Photo: Show your child a picture of when he was in his mother’s womb! Talk about how awesome it is that God created a specific space inside their mothers for babies to grow. Talk about how all their intricate body parts developed during those 9 months!
INTRODUCTION
We’ve learned how much God loves us and our parents love us. We’ve learned how incredible our bodies are and how we should protect them and honor them. Now, let’s learn about where exactly your body got started! God designed a special process for your important body to be made! He blessed mothers with the job of carrying a baby in her womb so that the baby can feel comfy and warm and can get everything it needs to grow! But how did he baby get in there? Let's learn about it.

DISCUSSION
How did this lesson make you feel?
Do you have any questions?
When you think about Mommy and Daddy making you, how does that make you feel?
CONCLUSION
Daddy and Mommy’s profound love created me. My body was created from both of their bodies and it has parts of both Daddy and Mommy. It makes God so happy to see how I am like both Daddy and Mommy.
PRAYER
Dear God, today I learned about a beautiful process You created. You made it so that Daddy and Mommy could come together to create love and joy in a special moment. In one of those special moments, they made a baby- me! I am so grateful that you put Daddy and Mommy together to create me! Thank you, God, for Daddy and Mommy.
Use these activities together with your child over the next month to create ongoing conversations on where babies come from!
EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS
ACTIVITY:
Play House - Practice role playing Mommy and Daddy and taking care of Baby.
Two Ingredient Recipe - Just like Daddy plus Mommy makes Baby, these two ingredients make something new together! Choose one.
Cheese tortillas. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place one flour (or whichever type you like) tortilla on a baking tray and cover it with your choice of cheese. Put a second tortilla on top. Bake for about 7 minutes or until cheese is melted and tortilla starts to brown.
Strawberry banana smoothie. Wash strawberries and peel banana. Add to blender and blend until fully combined. Enjoy!
CRAFTS
Personal Puzzle: Ask your child to draw and color a picture on an entire piece of paper, covering every last white space. Help as needed. Then, draw on jigsaw puzzle shapes (about 6-8 might be appropriate) and cut them out. Reassemble the puzzle together!
Thank You Card: Have your child make and decorate a Thank You card to God for making her! Have her include what she understood from today’s lesson, potentially her first talk on “The Birds and the Bees!” She can draw and you can write for her as she dictates. Older children will be able to write a few words or sentences on their own. This will be a sweet moment to look back upon and it can also be a great icebreaker for future, more serious talks with your child about sex.
Family Tree: Paste a photo of your child at the bottom of your paper. Add parent photos above, followed by grandparent photos higher above, followed by great grandparent photos up top! Optionally, label each photo with a name. Take this activity as far as you or your child would like to go. For example, share thoughts and feelings about each person, warm memories, or say a prayer for each.
